Shady Elms Farm wedding
Sarah and Isaac met freshman year of college. "We had a connection immediately and became fast friends. Then we dated for a year, but broke up to let ourselves mature a little more, but eventually got back together and stayed together. On the night we got engaged, Isaac took me out to a wonderful dinner in downtown Chicago and then when we went back to my apartment where the entire terrace was lit with candles and covered in roses, accompanied with music and champagne. I really had no idea it was coming until right before we went into my apartment and we hugged and I could hear his heart beating really fast and I thought....wait, could this really be happening?! He got down on one knee and said wonderful things, told me he loved me, and asked me to marry him. I (obviously) said yes and after we had a moment alone, his two best friends jumped down from the roof where they were taking pictures and all our friends came out and surprised me! We also lit a Thai paper lantern and watched it float away over Chicago. It was perfect! And our wedding day was perfect! It was the best day of our lives and we felt so humbled by all the love and support we got from our friends and family. The day of the wedding had one of the worst rainstorms of that summer. It was a torrential downpour. But when I woke up, I was too excited to care. I had all my best friends and family around me getting our hair done and drinking mimosas. I remember it all being more emotional than I thought it would be. The ceremony was in the barn where Isaac's dad officiated the wedding. We spent the rest of the night dancing in the tent and celebrating with so many of our favorite people. It was so fun to have both sides of our friends and family all together in one room!"
